Lainey Butler
Doctoral Student
Lainey Butler, B.A., is a fifth-year doctoral student in the General Clinical PhD program with the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She is completing her doctoral internship at the UNC-Chapel Hill Counseling Center and has defended her PhD dissertation on alcohol use, childhood trauma, and brain function with EEG under the supervision of Dr. Nooner. She completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at North Carolina State University while working in the lab of Dr. Halberstadt examining how teacher affect the emotional development of their students. She has publications and presentations, including at the American Psychological Association conference in areas including suicidality, childhood trauma, and substance use.
Mary Milo Woodley
Doctoral Student
Mary Milo Woodley, B.A, is a fourth-year doctoral student in the General Clinical PhD program in the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She is working on the National Consortium on Alcohol and Neurodevelopment in Adolescence (NCANDA) under the supervision of Dr. Nooner. She has presented NCANDA data at the Research Society for Alcohol conference and has several publications. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in neuroscience at UNCW while working in the Aging, Cognition, and Training Lab under Dr. Toth and Dr. Daniels. Her research interests include substance use, trauma, resilience, and neurodevelopment.
Sophie Majerske
Doctoral Student
Sophie Majerske B.A., is a second-year doctoral student in the General Clinical PhD program in the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She is working on the National Consortium on Alcohol and Neurodevelopment in Adolescence (NCANDA) under the supervision of Dr. Nooner. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in nutrition at the University of Vermont. Her research interest include childhood trauma, substance abuse, neurodevelopment, and social support.
Alyssa Gourdin
Master's Student
Alyssa Gourdin, B.A., is a second-year master's student in the Psychological Sciences master's program in the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at Clemson University. She coordinates the NIH-NIAAA funded R15 project, Biomarkers of Binge Drinking in Maltreated Adolescence, leading a team of graduate and undergraduate students with Dr. Nooner.
DeMoni Ellis
Master's Student
DeMoni Ellis, B.S., is a first-year master’s student in the Psychological Sciences master’s program in the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Her research interests include psychological health pertaining to marginalized communities, childhood trauma, and substance use. She is working on the NIH-NIAAA funded R15 project, Biomarkers of Binge Drinking in Maltreated Adolescence, under the tutelage of Dr. Nooner.
Ibtida Faruque
Master's Student
Ibtida Faruque, B.S., is a first-year master’s student in the Psychological Sciences master’s program in the Department of Psychology at UNCW. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a concentration in clinical psychology and a minor in childhood studies, at George Mason University. She is working on the NIH-NIAAA-funded R15 project, Biomarkers of Binge Drinking in Maltreated Adolescence, with Dr. Nooner.
